Your B-BBEE skills partner, without borders.
Born from the Careers Training Group — a South African education institution with over three decades of workforce impact — Careers IT is the accredited training partner built for the corporate skills agenda. From software developers and cybersecurity analysts to HR managers, office administrators, and ECD practitioners — wherever your people are, we deliver.
For over thirty years, we've helped South African organisations turn their skills development budgets into real, hire-ready talent. Careers IT carries that same mission across the disciplines modern businesses depend on — technology, human resources, business management, and office administration.
Our philosophy is simple: training spend should produce capability, not just certificates on a wall. Every programme is built backwards from the role our partners are hiring or upskilling for — and delivered wherever the work happens.
Three pillars, zero compromise.
Practical first
Theory is necessary — but nobody hires for theory. Our labs, simulations, and project briefs mirror the real tools and workflows your candidates will use on their first day in role.
Delivered without borders
On-site, online, hybrid. Single province or national rollout. We meet your workforce where they are, not where it's convenient for us.
Accountable to outcomes
SETA reporting, grant claim support, scorecard evidence, absorption tracking — we own the operational lift so your skills development spend translates into measurable results.
Anywhere your people are.
Briefings, partner days, & industry talks.
Hosted at our Umhlanga Ridge learning hub and online. Meet our facilitators, walk through learnership programmes, tour the labs, and connect with our skills development team — most events are free for corporate partners.

Learnership FAQs
What is a learnership?
A learnership is a structured, SETA-registered work-based learning programme that combines classroom theory with practical workplace experience, leading to a recognised NQF qualification. Learners are employed on a fixed-term learnership contract for the duration of the programme and earn a stipend while they study.
How long does a learnership take to complete?
It depends on the qualification — Careers IT learnerships range from 6 months (NQF 3, End User Computing) to 2 years (NQF 5 occupational certificates such as Cybersecurity Analyst or Software Developer). Each course page on this site lists its specific duration, credits, and NQF level.
What are the entry requirements?
Most Careers IT learnerships require Grade 12 (or equivalent) with English, and Maths or Maths Literacy depending on the qualification; a few accept Grade 10/11 or recognition of prior learning. Exact entry requirements are listed under "Programme details" on each course page.
Do learners get paid during a learnership?
Yes. Learnership candidates are on a fixed-term employment contract for the programme and receive a monthly stipend while they study, alongside a dedicated mentor, life-skills training, and CV/interview preparation.
How does Section 12H benefit employers who register learnerships?
Section 12H of South Africa's Income Tax Act allows employers to claim additional tax deductions for registered learnership agreements, on top of normal salary deductions. The exact allowance depends on the learner's NQF level and qualification status, and legislation can change — we'd recommend confirming current amounts and eligibility with your tax advisor or SARS before budgeting. We're happy to provide the learnership agreement paperwork your advisor will need.
How do learnerships help our B-BBEE scorecard?
Registered learnerships contribute to the Skills Development element of the B-BBEE scorecard, and can support Enterprise & Supplier Development and Employment Equity elements depending on who you enrol. Careers IT is B-BBEE Level 1, and we work with your skills development facilitator to structure a programme that fits your scorecard targets — talk to us about your specific goals.
Which SETAs and accreditation bodies does Careers IT work with?
Careers IT is accredited across QCTO, MICT SETA, Services SETA, ETDP SETA, and MERSETA, covering NQF Levels 3 to 7 across IT, HR, office administration, management, and early childhood development qualifications.
Can learnerships be delivered on-site, online, or nationwide?
Yes — programmes run on-site at your premises, at our Umhlanga Ridge learning hub, fully online, or in a hybrid format, and we place candidates nationwide, not only in KwaZulu-Natal.
What happens after a learner completes the programme?
Learners graduate with a nationally recognised NQF qualification and, where applicable, an SAQA ID they can verify. Careers IT provides post-programme placement support to help learners move into employment or further study.
How do we register candidates or enquire about a learnership?
Employers register candidates through the relevant SETA — Careers IT handles onboarding, facilitation, and certification. Use the enquiry form above, or call +27 31 566 5588 / email enquiries@careersit.co.za and a learnerships advisor will respond within one business day.
